May 16 is the date of 2 noteworthy events. The first is the 1st recorded dam disaster in U.S. is caused by a landslide collapsing a 43 foot high earthen dam above Williamsburg, Mass. The other is the Terminal Hotel Fire of 1938 in Atlanta GA that killed 38 people. The details of both of these events are sketchy at best for me. The picture above is the Terminal Hotel which was built in 1908. Of the dead, most were railroad men that were waiting on the morning train.
